Tags Reference

This page describes all metadata tags supported by Audio Tags Editor.

Basic Tags

These tags are universally supported across all file formats.

TagDescription
TitleThe name of the track
ArtistThe performing artist or band
AlbumThe name of the album or release
YearThe year the track was released
GenreThe musical genre (e.g. Rock, Jazz, Classical)
Track NumberThe track's position on the album (e.g. 3 or 3/12)
CommentsFree-form notes or comments about the track

Extended Tags

Additional tags for more detailed metadata.

TagDescription
SubtitleA secondary title or version label, such as "Radio Edit" or "Live at the Fillmore"
Release DateThe full release date of the track or album. More precise than Year — can include month and day
ConductorThe conductor of the recording (primarily used for classical music)
LyricistThe person who wrote the lyrics
LabelThe record label that published the release
ISRCInternational Standard Recording Code — a 12-character identifier unique to this recording (format: CC-XXX-YY-NNNNN)
Artist WebpageA URL linking to the artist's official website

Podcast Tags

These tags are used to mark a file as a podcast episode and carry podcast-specific metadata. They are primarily supported in MP3 and M4A files.

TagDescription
Is PodcastMarks the file as a podcast episode. When enabled, podcast players recognise the file as a podcast
Podcast IDA unique identifier for the podcast feed, used by directories and players to track subscriptions
Podcast URLThe URL of the podcast's RSS feed
Podcast CategoryThe category or topic of the podcast (e.g. Technology, True Crime, Education)
Podcast DescriptionA description of the podcast or the specific episode
